Roald Dahl would have been 100 today if he was still alive! He was born in Llandaff, Cardiff, Wales in 1916. He was named after the Norwegian polar explorer, Roald Amundsen. He was once a fighter pilot in World War 2! Roald Dahl wrote short adult stories, but instead found a passion for writing children's stories. His illustrator was Quentin Blake, an English man. Roald always wrote in his shed in his back garden. Sadly, he passed away on the 23rd Of November 1990 at age 74.
